Bricolage- Layers of Literary Thoughts

  Event-Report: The PG Department of English, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Chennai, organized a Students Welfare Programme titled “Bricolage: Layers of Literary Thought” on 30th January 2026 at 9:00 a.m. The programme was held at Bhasha Sangam with active participation from postgraduate students of the department. The primary objective of the programme was to encourage creative engagement with literature and to provide students with an opportunity to present literary concepts through innovative methods. As part of the event, PG students displayed models and charts related to various areas of literary studies such as British Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Feminism, Postcolonial Literature, and Contemporary Literary Perspectives. Parent Teacher Meeting

  Event-Report: The P.G Department of English organized Parent Teacher Meeting for MA English students on 5 th  February 2026   for the even semester of the academic year 2025-26. Parents and their respective wards were requested to attend the meeting between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The class-in-charges, Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar of I MA and II MA English discussed the students’ discipline, academic performance, punctuality, classroom interaction, dress code and participation in co-curricular activities with the parents. Parents’ queries related to their wards were clarified. Parents’ feedback was also collected.  Outcome of Event: The PTM helped establish an acquaintance between the class-in-charges and the parents. It helped in understanding students behaviour and performance. It brought out new approaches to solve the problems of the students.

  Event-Report: The PG Department of English,  Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous) , Arumbakkam, Chennai, successfully organized a seminar titled  “Gender Sensitization: Theory, Discourse, and Application”  on  30 January 2026 at 10:00 a.m.  The programme was held at  Bhasha Sangam  and was exclusively organized for  MA English students , with the objective of enhancing critical awareness of gender issues through theoretical, discursive, and practical perspectives.   Event-Report: A Report on Journey Towards Good Health & Quality Education - An Outreach Programme The PG Department of English, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), under  Vaishnav Social Responsibility , organised an outreach programme titled  “Journey Towards Good Health & Quality Education”  on  9 January 2026  at  Chennai Primary School, Annaisivagami Nagar, Ennore , at  9.00 a.m.  The programme aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals  SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)  and  SDG 4 (Quality Education) .   Event-Report: The  UGC NET/SET Study Circle  was organized by the  PG Department of English, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College , in association with  LitJamboree , on  22nd December 2025 at 12.00 noon  at  Bhasha Sangam Hall (First Floor) . The programme aimed at guiding MA English students aspiring to qualify the UGC NET/SET examination. The session focused on understanding the examination pattern, identifying core areas, and adopting effective preparation strategies.   Event-Report: PG Department of English organised a seminar on the topic, “Navigating Overseas Opportunities” on 19 th  December, 2025 for students of final year MA English. Dr. J. Praveen Prabhu, Head of the Department addressed the students highlighting the importance of setting goals for future and taking necessary steps towards the set goals and aspirations. The resource person of the event, Ms. Thaiba Nazreen, Team Leader & Admission Expert, Leap Scholar, Chennai discussed the steps to be taken for cost effective education abroad. She briefed the admission requirements for different universities and colleges in countries like UK, US, New Zealand and Germany.   Event-Report: Report of the Event : The Postgraduate Department of English, in association with LitJamboree, successfully conducted another vibrant session of The Reading Club on 19th December 2025 at 11am in the Seminar Hall.
