 Report of the Event: LIBRARY VISIT

The PG Department of English, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, organised an Experiential Learning Visit to the American Library at the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, on 23rd September 2026. The visit provided the MA English students with an opportunity to gain practical exposure to library resources, digital learning platforms, and cultural and educational initiatives beyond the classroom. The students were briefed by Mr. Rishi, Coordinator, U.S. Consulate, who introduced them to the various e-resources and digital resources available through the American Library and explained their academic relevance and possible applications for research and learning. The students also visited the Space Experiential Learning Centre at the US Consulate General, where they were introduced to interactive and informative resources related to space and scientific learning. As part of the visit, the students also had the opportunity to meet a foreign diplomat, which provided them with valuable exposure to international perspectives, diplomatic interactions, and cross-cultural communication. The visit was an enriching academic experience that complemented classroom learning and encouraged the students to explore diverse resources for their academic and research pursuits. 

Outcome of the Event:

Students gained exposure to the American Librarys print and e-resources, supporting their academic learning and research practices.

The visit to the Space Experiential Learning Centre provided students with interactive learning beyond the classroom.

Interaction with the coordinator and a foreign diplomat enhanced students understanding of international perspectives, cross-cultural communication, and diplomatic engagement.

  Event-Report: The P.G Department of English organized Parent Teacher Meeting for MA English students on 5 th  February 2026   for the even semester of the academic year 2025-26. Parents and their respective wards were requested to attend the meeting between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The class-in-charges, Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar of I MA and II MA English discussed the students’ discipline, academic performance, punctuality, classroom interaction, dress code and participation in co-curricular activities with the parents. Parents’ queries related to their wards were clarified. Parents’ feedback was also collected.  Outcome of Event: The PTM helped establish an acquaintance between the class-in-charges and the parents. It helped in understanding students behaviour and performance. It brought out new approaches to solve the problems of the students.

Two Day Life Skills Enhancement Workshop on "Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience"

Date and Time: 10th October 2023 to 11th October 2023, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm Venue: Cauvery Block, Sports Complex, First Floor Faculty Coordinator: Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Krithika A PG Department of English organised a two-day workshop titled “ Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience ” on 10th and 11th October 2023. The aim of the workshop is to provide adaptive, emotional and positive behaviour that enable students to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The Day 1 (10.10.2023) Session 1 : was commenced with the college prayer followed by Welcome address. Then Mr. J.
