“Edubridge – Connecting Classrooms and Communities”

 Event-Report:

The PG Department of English, D.G. Vaishnav College, organized an outreach programme under the Vaishnav Social Responsibility campaign titled “Edubridge – Connecting Classrooms and Communities” at Pragathi Alt School, Chennai.

Held under the guidance of Principal Capt. Dr. Santhosh Baboo and Secretary Shri Ashok Kumar Mundhra, and directed by the Head of the Department, Dr. J. Praveen Prabhu, the initiative sought to extend classroom learning into meaningful social engagement.

As part of the programme, postgraduate students conducted awareness sessions on gadget addiction and healthy food consumption for differently abled children. The sessions were followed by interactive games and cultural performances, ensuring a blend of education, entertainment, and inclusivity.

The event highlighted the department’s commitment to nurturing social responsibility and fostering holistic education through community-oriented initiatives.

Outcome of Event:

Fostered inclusivity and empathy through direct interaction with special school children.

Created awareness among differently abled students on the ill-effects of gadget addiction.

Promoted healthy lifestyle practices through discussions on nutritious food consumption

  Event-Report: The P.G Department of English organized Parent Teacher Meeting for MA English students on 5 th  February 2026   for the even semester of the academic year 2025-26. Parents and their respective wards were requested to attend the meeting between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The class-in-charges, Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar of I MA and II MA English discussed the students’ discipline, academic performance, punctuality, classroom interaction, dress code and participation in co-curricular activities with the parents. Parents’ queries related to their wards were clarified. Parents’ feedback was also collected.  Outcome of Event: The PTM helped establish an acquaintance between the class-in-charges and the parents. It helped in understanding students behaviour and performance. It brought out new approaches to solve the problems of the students.

Two Day Life Skills Enhancement Workshop on "Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience"

Date and Time: 10th October 2023 to 11th October 2023, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm Venue: Cauvery Block, Sports Complex, First Floor Faculty Coordinator: Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Krithika A PG Department of English organised a two-day workshop titled “ Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience ” on 10th and 11th October 2023. The aim of the workshop is to provide adaptive, emotional and positive behaviour that enable students to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The Day 1 (10.10.2023) Session 1 : was commenced with the college prayer followed by Welcome address. Then Mr. J.
