Commemoration of International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition

Report of the Event:
The P. G. Department of English celebrated International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition for the II BA Students on 23rd August, 2023. The Resource person was Dr. Nagarani, Assistant Professor, Anna Adarsh College, Chennai. She was introduced by Aswini from II BA English. Dr. Nagarani's talk which was titled "Slavery in America: Abolitionist and Slave Narrative" was comprehensive in relation to the history of slavery in the United States of America. She explained the rise of the Abolition movement and elaborated on two seminal slave narratives. The vote of Thanks was delivered by Hemavathy from II BA English.

Outcome of the event:
The Resource person's talk was thoroughly informative and engaged students' interest throughout. Since the students are yet to be acquainted with American Literature, the talk was an eye opening session.
