A Student Welfare Programme was organised on March 15th, 2024 to offer a unique blend of events designed to promote literary appreciation, competitive spirit, and academic success.
The program's centerpiece was a literary exhibition aptly named "Kaleidoscope." This vibrant showcase transcended the boundaries of traditional displays. PG students went beyond the expected, presenting innovative projects encompassing models, informative charts, and even creative cosplay, all reflecting their diverse generic skills. The Principal, Cap. Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, graced the inauguration with his presence and commended the students for their ingenuity. The esteemed guests of the event were Dr. A. Jothimalar, Associate Professor at Presidency College, and Dr. M.D. Allen Selvakumar, Assistant Professor from the Department of Criminology at the University of Madras.
Running concurrently with the exhibition was a captivating Book Review Competition, exclusively for first-year MA students. Mrs. S. Meena, Librarian at Pachaiyappas College, served as the esteemed judge. This competition provided an exciting platform for students to delve into the world of literature, honing their critical thinking and analysis skills.
The program also addressed the academic aspirations of PG students by incorporating a dedicated Competitive Exam Training Programme. Dr. K. Kannan Prasad, Assistant Professor at Loyola College, shared valuable insights and strategies for conquering the NET/SET exam. This comprehensive program went beyond mere test-taking tips. It equipped participants with essential study materials, expert guidance, and crucial skills like problem-solving and analytical thinking. This holistic approach aimed to familiarize students with the exam pattern and syllabus, boosting their confidence and chances of success.
By encompassing a literary extravaganza, a stimulating competition, and a focused academic program, the Student Welfare Programme catered to the multifaceted needs of PG students. It provided a platform for showcasing their creativity, fostering critical thinking, and empowering them to excel in their academic pursuits.
