3rd International Conference on Multiculturalism, Hybridity, & Transnational Narratives in English Language and Literature

The P.G Department of English conducted an International Conference on “Multiculturalism, Hybridity & Transnational Narratives" on 27th January, 2026. The Inauguration was attended by MA and BA English students of the Department and external presenters. The Guests of Honour for the inauguration were Dr. S. Armstrong, Member, Vice chancellor Convener Committee, University of Madras, Chennai, S/Lt Dr. K. Kanthimathi, Principal i/c, SDNB Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai. The Keynote speakers Dr. I Nengah Laba, Professor of English, Dhyana Pura University, Indonesia and Dr. Shahla Badir Naghiyeva, Professor, Department of Translation Theory and Practice of Germanic Languages, Azerbaijan University of Languages gave insightful talks on multiculturalism and translation theories. Dr. J Praveen Prabhu, Head, PG Department of English delivered the welcome address.

Rasheeda Sulthana, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of English, Bharathi Women’s College, Chennai, Dr. C. Chidambaranathan, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Sociology, DDGDVC, Dr. Y. John Ilavarasu, Assistant Professor, Department of English, AM Jain College, Chennai, Dr. H. Abdul Hadi, Associate Professor, Department of English, The New College, Chennai and Dr. K. Janagarraj, Assistant Professor, Department of English Literature, SRM Arts and Science College, Kattankulathur. Parallel online sessions were conducted by session chairs Dr. Shahla Badir Naghiyeva, Professor, Department of Translation Theory and Practice of Germanic Languages, Azerbaijan University of Languages and Dr. Rajaneesh Kumar H.V., Academic Director, SJR Education Society, Bengaluru. The sessions were followed by valediction ceremony. The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Rajasekaran V, Professor of English & Former Director – Students Welfare, VIT University Chennai Campus.

The programme was well received by chair persons, presenters, and participants

Presenters were exposed to multiple topics and research areas pertaining to multiculturalism, hybridity and transnationalism

The feedback provided by their chair persons alerted the presenters to the research gap in their papers

  Event-Report: The P.G Department of English organized Parent Teacher Meeting for MA English students on 5 th  February 2026   for the even semester of the academic year 2025-26. Parents and their respective wards were requested to attend the meeting between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The class-in-charges, Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar of I MA and II MA English discussed the students’ discipline, academic performance, punctuality, classroom interaction, dress code and participation in co-curricular activities with the parents. Parents’ queries related to their wards were clarified. Parents’ feedback was also collected.  Outcome of Event: The PTM helped establish an acquaintance between the class-in-charges and the parents. It helped in understanding students behaviour and performance. It brought out new approaches to solve the problems of the students.

Two Day Life Skills Enhancement Workshop on "Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience"

Date and Time: 10th October 2023 to 11th October 2023, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm Venue: Cauvery Block, Sports Complex, First Floor Faculty Coordinator: Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Krithika A PG Department of English organised a two-day workshop titled “ Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience ” on 10th and 11th October 2023. The aim of the workshop is to provide adaptive, emotional and positive behaviour that enable students to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The Day 1 (10.10.2023) Session 1 : was commenced with the college prayer followed by Welcome address. Then Mr. J.
