3rd International Conference on Multiculturalism, Hybridity, & Transnational Narratives in English Language and Literature

The P.G Department of English conducted an International Conference on “Multiculturalism, Hybridity & Transnational Narratives" on 27th January, 2026. The Inauguration was attended by MA and BA English students of the Department and external presenters. The Guests of Honour for the inauguration were Dr. S. Armstrong, Member, Vice chancellor Convener Committee, University of Madras, Chennai, S/Lt Dr. K. Kanthimathi, Principal i/c, SDNB Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai. The Keynote speakers Dr. I Nengah Laba, Professor of English, Dhyana Pura University, Indonesia and Dr. Shahla Badir Naghiyeva, Professor, Department of Translation Theory and Practice of Germanic Languages, Azerbaijan University of Languages gave insightful talks on multiculturalism and translation theories. Dr. J Praveen Prabhu, Head, PG Department of English delivered the welcome address.

Chidambaranathan, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Sociology, DDGDVC, Dr. Y. John Ilavarasu, Assistant Professor, Department of English, AM Jain College, Chennai, Dr. H. Abdul Hadi, Associate Professor, Department of English, The New College, Chennai and Dr. K. Janagarraj, Assistant Professor, Department of English Literature, SRM Arts and Science College, Kattankulathur. Parallel online sessions were conducted by session chairs Dr. Shahla Badir Naghiyeva, Professor, Department of Translation Theory and Practice of Germanic Languages, Azerbaijan University of Languages and Dr. Rajaneesh Kumar H.V., Academic Director, SJR Education Society, Bengaluru. The sessions were followed by valediction ceremony. The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Rajasekaran V, Professor of English & Former Director – Students Welfare, VIT University Chennai Campus.
The programme was well received by chair persons, presenters, and participants
Presenters were exposed to multiple topics and research areas pertaining to multiculturalism, hybridity and transnationalism
The feedback provided by their chair persons alerted the presenters to the research gap in their papers
