 REPORT ON ALUMNI MOTIVATIONAL TALK – “IGNITING YOUNG MINDS”

The PG Department of English, Dwarka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Arumbakkam, Chennai, organized an Alumni Motivational Talk titled “Igniting Young Minds” on 22nd September 2025 at 12 noon in the Shri Vallabhacharya Auditorium.

The session featured Mr. Gobinath (Kutti Gobi), an alumnus of the Department (Batch 2019–2022), who is currently a Host and Entertainer and serves as the Casting Director at Vee Pixels Productions. The event aimed to inspire and motivate the students by sharing real-life experiences and insights from a successful alumnus who has carved a niche for himself in the media and entertainment industry.

The program began with a warm welcome address by Dr. J. Praveen Prabhu, Head of the Department of English, followed by introductory remarks emphasizing the importance of alumni interactions in shaping students’ aspirations. The Principal, Capt. Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, and the Secretary, Shri. Ashok Kumar Mundra, extended their greetings and support for the initiative.

Mr. Gobinath engaged the audience with his lively and interactive session, sharing his journey from college life to his professional achievements. He encouraged students to pursue their passions with perseverance and creativity, highlighting the value of communication skills, confidence, and continuous learning in the competitive world.

The session was coordinated by Mr. P. V. Narasimmarao, Faculty Coordinator, along with T. Dharshini (II M.A.) and S. Durga Devi (II M.A.), Student Coordinators. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, followed by a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the guest and the department members for making the event a success.

The talk truly lived up to its title, “Igniting Young Minds,” leaving the audience motivated and inspired to pursue their dreams with determination and passion.

Outcome of Event:

Students were motivated and gained clarity about career opportunities in the media and entertainment industry.

The event strengthened the bond between alumni and current students, fostering departmental unity.

Participants enhanced their communication, confidence, and soft skills through interactive engagement.

  Event-Report: The P.G Department of English organized Parent Teacher Meeting for MA English students on 5 th  February 2026   for the even semester of the academic year 2025-26. Parents and their respective wards were requested to attend the meeting between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The class-in-charges, Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar of I MA and II MA English discussed the students’ discipline, academic performance, punctuality, classroom interaction, dress code and participation in co-curricular activities with the parents. Two Day Life Skills Enhancement Workshop on "Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience"
