CLUB HOUSE - THE READING CLUB

 Event-Report:

The Postgraduate Department of English, in association with LitJamboree, successfully conducted another vibrant session of The Reading Club on 24th July 2025 at 12:00 Noon in Bhasha Sangam. The event was a celebration of literature and critical engagement, where four students from II MA English reviewed notable literary works. The session reflected the department's commitment to fostering literary appreciation and public speaking among students.

Below are the details of the books reviewed:

  • Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

    Reviewer: Kothashri, II MA
    A classic postcolonial novel that delves into the tragic fall of Okonkwo, a proud Igbo leader, amidst colonial disruption and cultural conflict. The reviewer highlighted themes of tradition, identity, and resistance.
    Reviewer: Swathi S, II MA
    A surreal narrative intertwining parallel stories with metaphysical elements. The reviewer discussed Murakami's exploration of memory, fate, and the subconscious through rich symbolism and magical realism.
    Reviewer: Desika S, II MA
    A motivational parable addressing change in work and life. The review focused on adaptability, mindset shifts, and the importance of letting go of fear and embracing change.
    Outcome of Event:

  • Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami

  • Who Moved My Cheese? by Dr. Spencer Johnson

The event fostered a spirit of literary curiosity and offered a platform for students to hone their analytical and presentation skills.

It encouraged diverse reading practices and lively interaction among peers.
