The PG Department of English of Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College  organized a seminar on “Contemporary Approaches to English Language Teaching” on 8th September 2025 at Gyan Dharshan, MBA Block. The event saw the momentous book release of research articles presented in the International Conference on Navigating Sustainability: Multidisciplinary Approaches in English Language, Literature and Society by our Principal Capt. Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo. The Principal addressed the students and encouraged them with his words of wisdom. Dr. J. Praveen Prabhu, Head, PG Department of English emphasized the importance of English Language Teaching in his address. The resource person, Dr. C. Vairavan, Associate Professor and Head, Academy of Maritime Education and Training (Deemed to be University), Kanathur, Chennai, delivered an enlightening lecture that explored recent trends in English Language Teaching. He discussed the shift from traditional teacher-centered classrooms to learner-centered approaches, the role of technology in enhancing language skills, and the importance of interactive teaching methods. 

Outcome of Event:

The seminar gave students a clear understanding of modern trends in ELT.

They learned practical strategies for applying learner-centered and technology based methods in classrooms.

The session motivated them to adopt innovative practices in their academic and professional journey.

  Event-Report: The P.G Department of English organized Parent Teacher Meeting for MA English students on 5 th  February 2026   for the even semester of the academic year 2025-26. Parents and their respective wards were requested to attend the meeting between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The class-in-charges, Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar of I MA and II MA English discussed the students’ discipline, academic performance, punctuality, classroom interaction, dress code and participation in co-curricular activities with the parents. Parents’ queries related to their wards were clarified. Parents’ feedback was also collected.  Outcome of Event: The PTM helped establish an acquaintance between the class-in-charges and the parents. It helped in understanding students behaviour and performance. It brought out new approaches to solve the problems of the students.

Two Day Life Skills Enhancement Workshop on "Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience"

Date and Time: 10th October 2023 to 11th October 2023, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm Venue: Cauvery Block, Sports Complex, First Floor Faculty Coordinator: Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Krithika A PG Department of English organised a two-day workshop titled “ Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience ” on 10th and 11th October 2023. The aim of the workshop is to provide adaptive, emotional and positive behaviour that enable students to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The Day 1 (10.10.2023) Session 1 : was commenced with the college prayer followed by Welcome address. Then Mr. J.
