“Hands-on Capacity Enhancement Workshop on "Designing Layouts & Technical Writing”

 

The PG Department of English, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, organized a Hands-on Capacity Enhancement Workshop on "Designing Layouts & Technical Writing" exclusively for the I BA English students on 22nd September 2025 at the BBA Computer Laboratory. The workshop aimed to provide practical exposure to technical skills that enhance both academic and professional communication.The inaugural session began with a welcome address, highlighting the importance of technical writing and design layouts in today’s academic and corporate fields.

Session I was handled by Dr. Vishwa Priya V, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Vels Institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS). She focused on the fundamentals of designing layouts, introducing students to various digital tools and techniques for creating effective, visually appealing, and professional content.

Session II was led by Dr. Ilamchezhian J, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute. His session emphasized technical writing, covering structured documentation, clarity, and the role of technology in producing impactful written content.

The sessions were highly interactive and gave students the opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience, thus bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications.

The event was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. J. Praveen Prabhu, Head of the Department, and supported by Mr. Narasimmarao P V, Faculty Co-ordinator. Student coordinators M. P. Mathimmalar (II BA English) and Sam Joel S (I BA English) ensured smooth conduct of the workshop.

The workshop was a great success, equipping the participants with valuable skills in technical communication and design, which will certainly benefit them in their academic pursuits and career development.

  Event-Report: The P.G Department of English organized Parent Teacher Meeting for MA English students on 5 th  February 2026   for the even semester of the academic year 2025-26. Parents and their respective wards were requested to attend the meeting between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The class-in-charges, Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar of I MA and II MA English discussed the students’ discipline, academic performance, punctuality, classroom interaction, dress code and participation in co-curricular activities with the parents. Parents’ queries related to their wards were clarified. Parents’ feedback was also collected.  Outcome of Event: The PTM helped establish an acquaintance between the class-in-charges and the parents. Two Day Life Skills Enhancement Workshop on "Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience"

Date and Time: 10th October 2023 to 11th October 2023, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm Venue: Cauvery Block, Sports Complex, First Floor Faculty Coordinator: Ms. Nandhini Praveen and Ms. Krithika A PG Department of English organised a two-day workshop titled “ Holistic Wellbeing and Resilience ” on 10th and 11th October 2023.
