Journey Through the Novel

 Event-Report:

The PG Department of English and LitJamboree, organized a UGC NET/SET Study Circle on the theme of the novel with special focus on Jane Austen and D. H. Lawrence. The session examined Austen’s portrayal of social manners, class, and marriage in 19th-century England alongside Lawrence’s exploration of psychology, sexuality, and industrial modernity in the early 20th century. Participants gained valuable insights into the contrasting narrative styles and thematic concerns of both writers, enriching their literary understanding while sharpening their preparation for competitive examinations.

Outcome of Event:

Students understood the themes, forms, and historical development of the novel.

Students became equipped to tackle UGC NETSET questions related to the novel effectively.

Students examined contexts shaping Austens society and Lawrences industrial critique.
