National Read a Book Day - LIBRARY VISIT

 Event-Report:

On the occasion of Read a Book Day, the Postgraduate Department of English, D.G. Vaishnav College, organized a library visit for its students on 6th September 2025. The visit was arranged to the prestigious Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, one of the largest libraries in Asia, with the objective of encouraging students to explore the world of books beyond their academic syllabus and to cultivate the habit of reading.

The students were guided through the different sections of the library, including the general reading halls, periodicals section, and the digital resources wing. They were introduced to the vast collection of books, journals, and research materials available in the library, which cater to a wide range of disciplines. The visit also highlighted the significance of reading as a lifelong pursuit and emphasized how libraries serve as knowledge hubs for students, researchers, and the public.

The experience was enriching and inspiring for the students. Many expressed their appreciation for the exposure to such a well-structured and resourceful library. The visit not only helped them understand the value of reading but also motivated them to make reading a regular part of their personal and academic lives.

The Department extends its gratitude to the college management and the Anna Centenary Library authorities for their support in making this visit a memorable and meaningful part of Read a Book Day celebrations.
