Roses of Hope Spreading Care for Cancer Warriors

The PG Department of English, DG Vaishnav College, under the initiative of Vaishnav Social Responsibility, organized a charity fundraising and donation campaign titled “Roses of Hope: Spreading Care for Cancer Warriors” on 23rd September 2025 at Adyar Cancer Institute. The programme was held in commemoration of World Rose Day: Welfare of Cancer Patients.

The event was held under the guidance of Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, Principal, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mundhra, Secretary, and Dr. J. Praveen Prabhu, Head of the Department. Their encouragement and support made the initiative impactful and meaningful.

Students of the department actively participated by contributing ₹1000 as a fund donation to the institute. In addition, they prepared and shared handwritten motivational letters, carrying heartfelt words of encouragement, compassion, and positivity for the patients. This thoughtful gesture was intended to provide emotional strength and remind the patients that they are not alone in their journey.

The event highlighted the role of students in promoting social responsibility, empathy, and active involvement in community welfare. It also reinforced the department’s commitment to aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals).
