Venue: Basha Sangam, 1 st Floor Date:   17 th, April, 2023 Faculty coordinator: Ms. Nandhini Praveen Detailed report of the event:             The Art Gallery was organised by the PG Department of English on the 17 th   of April 2023. The students of both UG and PG participated in presenting their artworks related to literature. The event took place in the first floor, Bhasha Sangam. The gallery was filled with a wide range of arts and crafts, portraying various themes prescribed in the syllabus. Paintings, photographs, poems, and several chart works and models were displayed by the students. There was a sense of excitement as the audience and the faculties admired these artworks. C.A.R.E. An Outreach Programme

  Venue: Sankalp -The Open school, Shenoy Nagar, Chennai   Date:   13 th, April, 2023 Faculty coordinators: Ms. Nandhini Praveen Detailed report of the event:            The P.G. department of English conducted an outreach programme on 13 th April 2023. The students of I and II MA English organized awareness and cultural programme in Sankalp, The Open school at Shenoy Nagar. They engaged the special students with games, dance and singing to showcase their talents. The programme started by facilitating the Founder and the Principal of the school. Our student initiated the event by presenting   awareness   talks on food habits and on the idea of consent . The students also conducted games effectively and the children took part with enthusiasm. Oratorical competition on “Social Media: A Right to Speak or a Road to Stalk”

Date & time: 12 th April 2023, 12.00 noon Venue: BhashaSangam, I Floor Faculty coordinator: Ms. Raveena Neeraj Kumar Detailed report on the event: The PG Department of English and Rhetoricians: An Efficacious Speaking Forum conducted an oratorical competition on “Social Media: A Right to Speak or a Road to Stalk” . The competition was held on 12 th April 2023. The students surprised the gathering with their enthusiastic participation. The judge of the event, Dr. P. Prasanna addressed the audience on the importance and relevance of the topic in contemporary society. The winners of the competition were announced by the judge. Outcomes of the event: The students were able to demonstrate their oratorical skills. The event helped them gain exposure while motivating others to participate in such events in future. Enhancing Capabilities: An Outreach Programme

Prem Kumar     Detailed Report on the Event :           The III BA students were taken to Chennai Govt. Higher secondary school, Choolaimedu as a part of their extension activity on 12th April. The students were asked to engage the school students with topics life digital privacy, career guidance, emotional intelligence and with fun games.   This Extension activity will be beneficial to the students in many ways, including improving their critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Workshop on “Art of filmmaking”

A two day workshop on “Art of filmmaking” was conducted on 20th March 2023 & 21st March 2023 as part of a students training programme. The two guest speakers for the workshop on 20th were Mr. Elavarasan Devarajan , Cinematographer and Dr. Rao Prashant Jothi , Assistant Professor BBA DDGDVC. The guest Speakers for the second day of the workshop were  Mr. R. D Senthil Ram , Cinematographer and Mr. Ashok Kumar , Movie Director.

Literosody '23

The Most awaited Intercollegiate literary fest 'Literosody '23' was held on 6th March 2023. The following people honoured us with their presence: Mr. Mysskin , Movie Director; Mr. Harish Kumar , Actor; Mr. Sathish Selva Kumar , Movie Director; Mr. Jen Martin , Music Director; Mr. V.J. Lokesh , Actor and Stand up Comedian; Mr. Vijay Kandan , Actor, Criminal Lawyer and Boxer; Mr. K.M. Ilanchezhiyan , Former Assistant Commandant CRPF.  Events such as Creative Writing, Monoacting, Collage, Adzap, Litshow and Mr. and Ms. Literosody were conducted.  With many participants from various colleges;  miscellaneous  panel of Judges and the enthusiastic audience, the event was spectacular. The Organising Secretary of the Literosody was Ms. Nandhini Praveen . The programme Organisers were Dr. R. Keerthana and Ms. A. Krithika . The student Organisers were S. J. Prathyanka, S. Sunil, S. A Biopic of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul kalam - A Theatrical Performance

Sasidharan Report of Event : The PG Department of English organized “A Biopic of Dr. A.P.J Abdulkalam” to enrich the enacting skills of the students. The event took place in the Vallabhacharya Auditorium. The play was performed by I BA students and showcased the life history of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. It has enriched students on various life incidents of Kalam. Outcome of the Programme: Students enjoyed the play performance and understood the significance of enacting a drama on a larger scale. R Report of Event : The PG Department of English organized “Outfit: Let’s Break the Stereotype - A Theatrical Performance” to enrich the enacting skills of the students. The event took place in the Vallabhacharya Auditorium. The play was performed by II MA students as a result of their value added course on Theatre Art. The performance was followed by value added course certificate distribution by the Principal Sir. Outcome of the Programme: Students enjoyed the play performance and understood the significance of enacting a drama on a larger scale. National Seminar

  A national seminar entitled “ Emerging Perspectives on English Language, Literature and Culture” was organised by the PG Department of English on 24th February 2023 with 70 participants across the nation both online and offline presented their papers. The Keynote Speakers was Mr. A. S. Paneerselvan , Fellow, Roja Muthiah Research Library, Former Reader’s Editor, The Hindu and the Sessions were chaired by Dr. L. R. S. Kalanithi , Associate Professor, Gurunanak; Dr. J. Jayachan  dran , Associate Professor, Anna University; Dr. Karthiga S. Workshop on “Magnifying Proficiencies Towards Employability”

  A five day workshop on “Magnifying Proficiencies Towards Employability ” was held from  23rd January 2023 - 27th January 2023 . The following people were the guest lecturers on the respective days; Ms. Vani Pradeep (writer), Dr. P. Suresh , Assistant Professor, DDGDVC, Ms. Shanthoshi Sona , Senior Manager HR, White Rabbit Group, Dr. Abirami Vivek , Counseling Psychologist, Founder Director- Magnet Minds and Ms. Jayanthi Sankar (writer). The guest Lecturers provided  conversant lectures and it highly benefitted the students. The Workshop was very functional and helped the students on analysing various scopes in the field and on preparing themselves for their profession.
